The Story Behind Expressions Ladies Wear
Expressions Ladies Wear has been part of my life for longer than most people realize.
Before becoming the owner, I actually worked at the boutique for over two years. I first started doing try-ons and helping with social media posts, showing customers how different pieces fit and sharing new arrivals online. Not long after that, I began working on the sales floor as well — usually just one day a week on Thursdays.
During that time, I fell in love with the store.
Fashion has always been something I’ve loved. To me, style is more than just clothes. It’s a way women express themselves and tell their own story. The way we dress can change how we feel when we walk into a room. Some days it’s about comfort, some days it’s about confidence — and sometimes it’s both at the same time.
Personally, dresses have always made me feel the most like myself. There’s something about them that feels feminine but also powerful.
For a long time, I had dreamed about owning my own boutique. I had looked at different possibilities — even the idea of starting an online boutique from scratch. But when the opportunity to buy Expressions came along, it felt different.
It didn’t feel big and scary.
It just felt right.
Sometimes life gives you an opportunity that you know you can’t pass up, and this was one of those moments for me.
One of the things that excited me most about becoming the owner was the chance to keep the store alive and continue offering a place where women can shop locally. Small businesses matter so much to communities, and I wanted to be part of continuing that tradition.
I’ve always known I wanted to be an entrepreneur. Building something, growing something, and creating an experience for people gives me a real sense of purpose.
The first day I officially owned the boutique felt surreal. Customers and people around me would call me “the boss” or “the owner,” and honestly it didn’t feel real at all. I kind of brushed it off at first.
Now, about six months in, it’s finally starting to sink in.
Owning a boutique has definitely been a learning experience. I’m figuring things out as I go, learning every day, and honestly just winging it sometimes. But I love every second of it. I love learning, I love growing, and I love having the opportunity to bring a little happiness to women when they shop.
When someone walks into Expressions Ladies Wear, I want them to feel more than just like they’re entering a clothing store.
I want them to feel welcomed.
I want them to feel confident.
I want them to feel seen, heard, and taken care of.
Expressions isn’t just a boutique to me — it’s a community. It’s a place where women can feel comfortable, supported, and excited about what they’re wearing.
One of my favorite parts of owning the boutique is going to buying shows and seeing all the new trends and collections. I love discovering beautiful pieces and deciding what I think our customers will love most. I especially love bringing in natural fabrics like cotton and linen, along with pieces that feel fresh, exciting, and easy to wear.
Shopping should feel fun, not stressful. I want every woman who shops with us — whether in the store or online — to feel confident that she loves what she’s taking home. We’ll hype you up, help you style pieces, and make sure you leave feeling amazing.
Looking ahead, my goal is simple: keep growing Expressions while staying true to what makes it special.
I want to continue bringing in beautiful brands and new styles, attract younger women into the boutique, and build an online presence that makes shopping from home just as easy and enjoyable as visiting us in person.
Most of all, I just want to keep sharing Expressions with everyone.
I truly love this boutique, and I’m so grateful to be part of its story.
And I hope we have many, many years ahead.
